Just about every new face painter has a tendency to undercharge for their services. If you are paying less than $125 per hour for face painting, you should be asking “Why.”
Most experienced face painters in the Metroplex start out charging $125 per hour as a minimum because they know the actual cost of doing business, plus they understand the demand for good face painting.
Face Paint & Face Glitter is Very Expensive
Quality face paint and face glitter are considered cosmetic-grade makeup. They are designed especially for the face. Most professional Face painters in the Dallas Fort Worth area have invested thousands of dollars putting their face painting kits together.
The best way to hire a face painter is to contact an experienced booking agent who specializes in children’s events. Trust me, this is not an area where you want to get the cheapest service in town, you most likely will regret it.
The golden rule of face painting is this: Good face painters don’t need to cut their prices to get jobs, in fact, most of them book weeks in advance. If you are putting a birthday party together in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, expect to spend a minimum of $125 per hour (Sometimes more).

- Plan on taking about an hour to face paint 15 kids.
- If your party is outdoors, provide a shady place for the face painter.
- Face Painting in the late afternoon? Make sure there is plenty of light.

When you hire a professional face painter, you will most likely hear comments such as WOW! COOL! OH MY GOSH! The parents usually say this as they are reaching for the smartphone cameras.
Face painting is an art that uses skin as a canvas. (many times a wiggly squirmy canvas). I am constantly amazed at the skill these true professionals have, and I have been in the business for decades.
My advice is, there are many areas where you can cut corners, but I wouldn’t recommend hiring the cheapest face painter in town. They are usually cheaper for a reason.
